The former Olympian Felix Verdejo entered this fight with a boxing record of 26-1-0 (16 knockouts) and he is ranked as the No.28 lightweight in the world. He was defeated by Antonio Lozada Torres in 2018 but then he has won over Yardley Armenta Cruz, Bryan Vasquez and Manuel Rey Rojas.
His opponent, the undefeated Will Madera, has an official record of 15-0-3 (8 knockouts) and he entered as the No.47 in the same weight class. He was stopped in a draw by Christian Uruzquieta last year but he came back to win against Edgar Ramirez in 2020.
