Daniel Dubois faces Olexsandr Usyk in a heavyweight (over 200lbs/90.7kg) bout scheduled to take place on Saturday July 19th at Wembley Stadium in London (England). It is the main event of the card and is for the undisputed heavyweight championship (WBO, WBA, WBC and IBF).

Daniel Dubois record

‘Dynamite’ Daniel Dubois comes into this fight with a professional record of 22 wins and two defeats, with 21 of those wins coming through KO. One of his two defeats was against Usyk, who finished him in the ninth round in 2023 (Oleksandr Usyk vs Daniel Dubois).

Dubois has since scored wins against Jarrell Miller (Daniel Dubois vs Jarrell Miller), Filip Hrgovic (Daniel Dubois vs Filip Hrgovic) and Anthony Joshua (Anthony Joshua vs Daniel Dubois), with the latter proving that he can do it on the biggest stage. He is the current IBF heavyweight champion, and will be defending that championship in this bout.

Olexsandr Usyk record

Olexsandr Usyk is currently undefeated, with a record of 23-0, and is currently the WBA, WBC and WBO heavyweight champion, putting all three on the line against Dubois. His last three fights have been against Dubois, and two fights against Tyson Fury (Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk, Oleksandr Usyk vs Tyson Fury 2), which the Ukrainian won via decision.

Usyk was previously a world champion at cruiserweight, and has successfully transitioned into the heavyweight division, beating Joshua (Anthony Joshua vs Oleksandr Usyk), Fury and Dubois. A win against the latter on July 19th will be his eighth victory against a British fighter. He was able to outbox his Dubois in their last fight, and will be aiming to do the same this time around.

Fight prediction

Usyk possesses the technical advantage in this fight, as was demonstrated the first time these two met in 2023, but Dubois has clear knock-out power, which was on full display against Joshua in the Brit’s last outing.

The Ukranian is not getting any younger, and has had two tough fights against Fury, whilst Dubois has had easier fights since that defeat. The IBF champion has been playing up the fact that Usyk may be on the decline in his pre-fight interviews, so it is unknown whether there is any truth to it.

However, it would be foolish to write off the WBC, WBO and WBA champion, who has spent most of his time at heavyweight proving his doubters wrong. Expect his technique and boxing brain to be the decider, with a unanimous decision given Usyk’s way after a hard-fought 12 rounds.
