Since 2001 “El Travieso” Arce was the holder of the WBC light flyweight title but this time he fought for the first time in the flyweight division (in fact the fight against Hussein was valid for the WBC Flyweight Title Eliminator). Instead, “Hussy” Hussein had always fought in the flyweight and super flyweight division, but the only time he had fought for a world title he lost (against Pongsaklek Wonjongkam in 2003). Review: Miguel Angel Cotto vs Ricardo Torres was a very exciting fight, in almost every round there is a knockdown! Both boxers had never lost, they were of the same age and had many victories for Ko, however, Cotto had more experience at international level and in this fight he defended his WBO light welterweight title for the fourth time, instead for Torres this was his first fight in the United States and for a world title. Review: the first fight between Diego Corrales and Jose Luis Castillo has deservedly won the award for the fight of the year of 2005. Corrales came from the victory against Acelino Freitas (one of the best fights of 2004) in which he won the WBO lightweight title, instead Castillo held the WBC lightweight title, which he had won in 2004 (against Juan Lazcano) and who had successfully defended twice. Diego Corrales vs Jose Luis Castillo 1 was therefore a very important fight (valid for both WBC and WBO lightweight titles) and it was really spectacular, especially the tenth round when both fighters went to the canvas… Watch the video!
