The two time K-1 World MAX champion Buakaw Banchamek entered this fight with a professional kickboxing record of 229-23-12 (68 knockouts) and he is ranked as the No.6 super welterweight in the world while his opponent, Kong Lingfeng, has an official record of 32-11-0 (12 knockouts). Buakaw lost the rematch with Yi Long in 2016 (controversial decision, Buakaw vs Yi Long 2) but then he has beat Andrei Kulebin in December (=Buakaw vs Kulebin) and Tian Xin in 2017 (=Buakaw vs Xin).
