Wanderlei Silva ranked as the No.20 middleweight in the world, entered the fight with a record of 34-11-1 while Rich Franklin had a record of 28-6-0 (Franklin is not ranked as he hasn’t fought since February 5, 2011 when he was defeated by Forrest Griffin).
