4_stars_allthebestfights Review: 2002-09-14, Oscar De La Hoya vs Fernando Vargas was valid for three world titles of the light middleweight division, in fact De La Hoya was the champion for the WBC, while Vargas for the WBA and IBA. Oscar De La Hoya had already lost two times, once against Shane Mosley and the other one with Felix Trinidad (who had also already won against Fernando Vargas). Both boxers had a very spectacular way to fight even if different, and therefore could only be an exciting fight. Watch the video!

  1. Great fight :) It definitely redeems the fishnet incident for me lol. Both are true warriors and should be considered as such. One judge was wildly off-course with the scoring, but he was irrelevant in the end.

I think it was better for Vargas to stay close, he was successful when he did that as De la Hoya had to bring his hands up, which takes some energy. At a distance de la Hoya did what he wanted with his hands low. 4 stars and a half.
