Fight rated 2 stars by AllTheBestFights.comReview: 2014-03-01, tactical fight but not so exciting: Orlando Salido vs Vasyl Lomachenko gets two stars. Orlando Salido entered this fight with a pro boxing record of 40-12-2 (28 knockouts) and he is ranked as the No.3 featherweight in the world, last year he fought twice: the first time he lost to #1 Mikey Garcia losing also the WBO featherweight belt (=Salido vs Garcia), but then Garcia vacated the title and ‘Siri’ Salido won the same belt beating Orlando Cruz (=Salido vs Cruz).
His opponent, 2012 and 2008 Olympic Gold Medalist Vasyl Lomachenko, is at his second professional boxing fight (but he has an amazing amateur record of 396-1), he entered as the No.68 in the same weight class; last year, in his pro boxing debut he faced #47 Jose Ramirez and he won via tko (=Lomachenko vs Ramirez). Salido vs Lomachenko was originally valid for the WBO featherweight title (Salido’s first deense) but the Mexican weighed in 2.5 pounds over the limit of 126 lbs, so the belt was only at stake for Lomachenko; undercard of Julio Cesar Chavez Jr vs Brian Vera 2. low blows galore. stupid ref should of did something. he was cringing right after

Disgusting fight, disgusting referee and disgusting Mexican fighter. It was 11 pounds weight difference in favor of Salido after hydrating, this is a cheat and the fight should be cancelled immediately. The fight was also full of low blows from Salido and the referee L. Cole (if was any) did nothing about it. Lomachenko a very good boxer in spite of his lack of experience and a real gentlemen who didn’t complaint at all during the interview after the fight.

he probably should of pointed it out to the ref tho. it definitely affected his mobility

    Seems we all agree.
Big time boxers should tell Texas to F! off until they fire BOTH Coles.

We all has disdain for the BS politics of boxing. 1 think I would love to see is an automatic loss for weight failure.

    Vasyl is a great champion.
I honor his morality to not be a dirty fighter though I also wish he would have taken a page from Hatton in Hatton Vs Tszyu. After 3 low blows. (all on purpose) Hatton walked out and did a devastating upper to Tszyu’s balls. No more low blows after that.

    I think Vasyl will become
better from this. First we now know he has a hell of a chin and endurance. As pointed out, if not for Salido weighing 147 lbs in a 126 pound fight. He would have been stopped mid way. He barely made it out of 12 through sheer holding.

    Will be watching.
