Petr Petrov entered this fight with a pro boxing record of 33-4-2 (15 knockouts) and he is ranked as the No.56 lightweight in the world, he suffered his last two defeats in world or international title fights: in 2011 he lost to Marcos Maidana in a bout valid for the WBA light-Ww belt (=Maidana vs Petrov) and in 2013 he was defeated by #20 undefeated Dejan Zlaticanin.
His opponent, Christopher Deon Rudd, has a record of 13-1-0 (8 knockouts) and he suffered his only defeat last year when he faced William Jackson via majority decision. The fight between Petrov and Rudd is the semifinal of ESPN’s 2014 Boxcino lightweight tournament; in the quarterfinals Petrov won then-undefeated Fedor Papazov while Rudd defeated Yakubu Amidu. I had Petrov winning this tourney from the get go. So this outcome is what I expected.
Rudd did well given circumstances.
Hope he made some $ from this little outing.
Good pressure and accuracy by Petrov. Rudd was game, and has promise, but was in well over his experience and skill level against the veteran.
