In 2010 Soto (52-7-2) had won the WBC lightweight title (against David Diaz) and had already defended it twice but in his third defense he faced the pressure fighter Urbano Antillon (28-1-0). In fact Antillon pushed forward for twelve rounds but Soto returned every blow. In the fifth round the referee deducted one point to Antillon and this was crucial for the result of the fight since Humberto Soto defeated Antillon by close decision: 115-112, 114-113, 114-113.
