In 2010 Soto (52-7-2) had won the WBC lightweight title (against David Diaz) and had already defended it twice but in his third defense he faced the pressure fighter Urbano Antillon (28-1-0). In fact Antillon pushed forward for twelve rounds but Soto returned every blow. In the fifth round the referee deducted one point to Antillon and this was crucial for the result of the fight since Humberto Soto defeated Antillon by close decision: 115-112, 114-113, 114-113. Review: 2010-04-17, very high pace and tough fight between Robert Stieglitz (37-2-0) and Eduard Gutknecht (18-0-0). Stieglitz had won the his WBO super middleweight title in 2009 (against Karoly Balzsay) and after beating Ruben Eduardo Acosta in the first defense he faced the undefeated Eduard Gutknecht. Even if the fight ended on points (Stieglitz defeated Gutknecht by unanimous decision) the match was very exciting: one of the best boxing fights of 2010. Watch the video!
Review: 2010-05-15, high pace fight, balanced and valid for a world title (vacant WBC cruiserweight), the second fight between Krzysztof Wlodarczyk and Giacobbe Fragomeni was one of the best boxing fights of 2010. In the first fight (fought in Italy in 2009) Fragomeni was the defending champion and the match ended in a draw but in the rematch Wlodarczyk was fighting in front of his fans and so he was absolutely determined to win the belt. Giacobbe Fragomeni (26-2-1) pushed forward almost every round but at the end of the sixth Wlodarczyk (42-2-1) knocked down him, the Italian boxer recovered but in the eighth went to the canvas another time and the fight ended by TKO (‘Diablo’ Wlodarczy and Fragomeni also faced each other a third time on December 6, 2013 = Wlodarczyk vs Fragomeni 3). Review: 2010-07-10, the undefeated Juan Manuel Lopez (28-0-0) had just won the WBO featherweight title in his previous fight (against Steven Luevano) and at his first defense he faced the Filipino Bernabe Concepcion (28-3-1). In the first round Lopez knocks down Concepcion and tries to end the fight but in the last seconds of the round Bernabe surprises him and Lopez goes down! In the second “Juanma” Lopez knocks down Concepcion two times and the referee stops the fight. With four knockdowns in two rounds and the “Ring Magazine Round of the Year” (the first one) the fight Lopez vs Concepcion enters our rankings as one of the best boxing fights of 2010. Review: 2010-11-27, with two fighters as Juan Manuel Marquez and Michael Katsidis the bout could only be one of the best boxing fights 2010. Marquez (51-5-1) had won the WBA super world and WBO lightweight titles in the first fight against Juan Diaz (Ring Magazine fight of the year 2009) and this time he had to face “The Great” Katsidis (27-2-0). The Australian warrior came from the important victory against Kevin Mitchell in UK, where he was the underdog before the fight. Michael Katsidis knocks down Marquez in the third round but then “Dinamita” recovers and won in the ninth round by TKO. Watch the video!
Review: 2011-09-10, Paul Daley (27-11-2) after suffering two consecutive defeats against two of the best welterweight fighters in the world (one versus Nick Diaz, fight valid for the Strikeforce Welterweight Championship, and the last one against Tyron Woodley), faced another tough mma fighter: the Bulgarian Jordan Radev (23-4-0). Both fighters started strong and the first two rounds were very exciting, unfortunately the pace slows down in the third but the match remains one of the best mma fights of 2011. (Daley vs Radev was on the undercard of Frank Trigg vs Jim Wallhead, BAMMA 7). Watch the video!
Review: 2010-09-04, Ricky Burns vs Roman Martinez was one of the best boxing fights of 2010. The undefeated Martinez (24-0-1) had won the WBO super featherweight title in United Kingdom (2009 against Nicky Cook), had already defended his belt twice and probably he was not even worried to come back to UK for his third defense against Ricky Burns (28-2-0), Scottish boxer at his first attempt for a world title. In fact in the first round Martinez knocked down Burns but the fight did not end, “Rickster” Burns recovered and managed to win the match! First defeat for Roman Martinez after twelve exciting rounds of boxing. Watch the video!
Review: 2011-09-01, the fight between Kaimukkaw Chuwattana and Seksan O.Kwanmuang was one of the best muay thai fights of 2011. Seksan (blue trunks) was dominating the early rounds, but in the third Kaimukkaw (red trunks) knocked down him with a nice elbow, Seksan survives and in the fourth round knocks Kaimukkaw out! Kaimukkaw Chuwattana is the former featherweight champion of the Rajadamnern Boxing Stadium. Watch the video!
Review: 2010-09-11, Yuriorkis Gamboa (18-0-0) had won the WBA World featherweight title in 2009 and he had already defended his belt three times, instead Orlando Salido (34-10-2) was the reigning champion of the IBF featherweight title. In the eighth round Gamboa went down but in the last round the Cuban boxer knocked down Salido two times defeating the Mexican by unanimous decision (in the 12th round Joe Cortez deducted 2 points to Gamboa for hitting Salido while he was down). The fight Gamboa vs Salido was tough but also technical, with a high pace: one of the best boxing fights of 2010. Watch the video!
Review: 2010-08-21, Marco Antonio Rubio and Jose Luis Zertuche had already fight in 2008 for the WBC FECOMBOX middleweight title and Rubio won by TKO. In this second fight, after two years, Rubio was defending his WBC Latino middleweight title and he defeated Jose Luis Zertuche again before the end of the match (technical knockout in the sixth round). The fight was tough and had a high pace: four stars. Watch the video!
