Mike Tyson, De La Hoya, Andre Ward, Manny Pacquiao, Ronda Rousey, Cain Velasquez, GSP and many other boxers, Ufc champs and boxing trainers predicted in the past weeks who will be the winner of THE ONE: Mayweather vs. Canelo. So we have collected the most important predictions but obviously we want to know also your pick!

Link to the fight: Floyd Mayweather Jr vs Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez

Mike Tyson: “Anything can happen when two human beings get into the ring […] Floyd is very experienced. This guy Alvarez is very strong. It comes across like Floyd will win, but we’ll see.”

Gennady Golovkin: “I think Canelo has a big chance, he is younger, he is hungry, he has power.”

Manny Pacquiao: “It’s a good fight, Canelo has a chance to win, he need to focus on his speed because Floyd his faster than him”.

Oscar De La Hoya: “People have hope and people strongly feel that Mayweather is going to get beat […] (Canelo) knows what he’s doing. He is a fighter that has a game plan and he is in the best shape of his life. […] If he doesn’t knock Floyd out in less than eight rounds, I will be very surprised.”

Abner Mares: “Mayweather has everything to win, everything, yet, I’m thinking Canelo!”

Erislandy Lara: “I like Floyd Mayweather by twelve-round unanimous decision.”

Andre Ward: “I think that you’ve got to go with Floyd Mayweather. Even though Canelo has a lot of fights, […] I just don’t see anything other than Canelo landing a lucky punch that gives him a shot to win. And even in landing a lucky punch, that doesn’t mean that Floyd Mayweather is just going to fold and crumble and be knocked out. Floyd has gotten hit in fights, and he’s taken those hits and he’s come back and he fights. I just don’t see it. If I’m wrong, it won’t be the first time that I’m wrong, and it may not be the last. But I just don’t see it.”

Lucas Matthysse: “Canelo is a ‘terrible’ fighter and if he fights cleverly and with a good strategy, he can win.”

Curtis Stevens: “it should be an excellent fight but Mayweahter is the one.”

Mikey Garcia: “Mayweather will win thanks to his boxing style and his speed.”

Nonito Donaire: “if Mayweather fights the way he fought the last fight with Robert Guerrero, I think that he has great, great, you know, high percentage of winning the fight. But if he fights the way he fought Cotto, Canelo has a great chance of overpowering and using his size.”

Brandon Rios: “I think Mayweather’s going to win.”

Yuriorkis Gamboa: “I think Floyd. Canelo is a young and tough boxer but he is a ‘static’ boxer.”

Shane Mosley: “I definitely think Canelo has a chance, he has the speed, the power and the skills. We have to see if he has the mentality.”

Ricky Hatton: “Alvarez is younger, bigger and stronger but Floyd will have the speed and the movement to keep out of the way […] He will be Floyd’s toughest fight, because Floyd is getting on a bit. […] Floyd will make Alvarez miss and any boxer will tell you that there’s nothing that tires you out more than hitting fresh air constantly.”

George Foreman: “This is Canelo’s fight to lose. Mayweather has speed, Canelo has speed; Canelo has power, Mayweather has power if you follow him. Canelo has youth, Mayweather has none. Experience is good; punching power is better. Split decision for Canelo.”

And now it’s the turn of two boxing trainers and three Ufc champions.

Freddie Roach: “(Alvarez) is a pretty good puncher and a tough guy. But does he have a chance at beating Mayweather? I don’t think so.”

Nacho Beristain: “I hope he (Canelo) wins as it would be marvelous for Mexican boxing if he were to win but I think it will be difficult.”

Ronda Rousey: “I got for Canelo but it is a hard fight.”

Cain Velasquez: “Canelo is hungry and has the physical skills.”

George St Pierre: “”I like the underdog, I like Canelo, but I believe Mayweather has more chance to win.”

  1. Canelo can’t take those short and constant body punches that mayweather delivers and that is the key for mayweather. Canelo also tend to freeze against the ropes due to fatigue and body punches. I’m picking floyd by k.o in the later rounds. Are you surprised at my analysis? Stay tuned..

    • i think that “body punches” is Canelo’s key!! mayweather suffers constant pressing as in the first fight against castillo…

      • what do you think of my analogy? I think you saw the fight and you could see canelo freeze against the ropes at some point while mayweather took advantage and punished him. What about the constant short body punches I predicted mayweather would deliver? I was right and on point except for a k.o and that’s because mayweather dislocated his elbow.

        • you were right, but i still think that canelo could do more and more….he did 20% of what he can do….the problem is that saul seemed afraid of floyd or maybe at 23 years old was not ready to such a big fight….probably he would have lost the same, but not in this way. congratulations to floyd!
