The American Todd Duffee (7-2-0) entered as the No.37 heavyweight in the world while Philip De Fries (9-1-0) entered as the No.56. Review: 2012-12-29, good fight and good finish (UFC Submission of the Night) between John Moraga and Chris Cariaso: three stars. John Moraga (12-1-0) entered as the No.16 flyweight in the world while Chris Cariaso (14-3-0) entered as the No.7. Moraga vs Cariaso is on the undercard of Junior dos Santos vs Cain Velasquez 2 – UFC 155. Watch the video!
Review: 2012-12-29, after watching the rematch between Junior dos Santos and Cain Velasquez a second time, we give it three stars but it was close to get four since the first two rounds were very exciting thanks to a great pace and one knockdown, but in the following rounds the pace slows down and they are not as active as at the beginning; we would like to see a third fight very soon but we also know that Alistair Overeem is waiting for the UFC belt… Junior dos Santos (15-1-0) entered as the No.1 heavyweight in the world while Cain Velasquez (10-1-0) entered as the No.2. In their first fight JDS defeated Velasquez by ko (November 12, 2011); ‘Cigano’ dos Santos vs Velasquez 2 is valid for the UFC Heavyweight title (dos Santos’ second defense), main event of UFC 155. Review: 2012-12-29, great fight with a spectacular first round, some vicious elbows and a lot of blood: Jim Miller vs Joe Lauzon gets three stars and wins UFC Fight of the Night honors but for us the main event between Dos Santos and Velasquez was more exciting. Jim Miller (21-4-0) entered as the No.17 lightweight in the world while Joe Lauzon (22-7-0) entered as the No.18. Miller vs Lauzon is on the undercard of Junior dos Santos vs Cain Velasquez 2 – UFC 155; they also faced each other a second time on August 27, 2016 (=Joe Lauzon vs Jim Miller 2). Watch the video!
Review: 2012-12-29, fight not particularly exciting between Tim Boetsch and Constantinos Philippou: two stars. Tim Boetsch (16-4-0) entered as the No.6 middleweight in the world while Constantinos Philippou (11-2-0) entered as the No.22. Boetsch vs Philippou is on the undercard of Junior dos Santos vs Cain Velasquez 2 – UFC 155. Watch the video!
Review: 2012-12-29, pretty good third round between Yushin Okami and Alan Belcher but it is not enough to get three stars. Yushin Okami (27-7-0) entered as the No.16 middleweight in the world while Alan Belcher (18-6-0) entered as the No.8. In their first fight Okami defeated Belcher by unanimous decision (August 26, 2006); this second fight is on the undercard of Junior dos Santos vs Cain Velasquez 2 – UFC 155. Watch the video!
Review: 2012-12-29, pretty boring fight with only some good takedowns: Chris Leben vs Derek Brunson gets two stars. Chris Leben (22-8-0) entered as the No.25 middleweight in the world while Derek Brunson (9-2-0) entered as the No.46. Leben vs Brunson is on the undercard of Junior dos Santos vs Cain Velasquez 2 – UFC 155. Watch the video!
Video UFC 155 Dos Santos vs Velasquez II extended preview
UFC 155 fight card could have been one of the best ever, but because of several injuries we lost Phil Davis vs Forrest Griffin and Chris Weidman. However we have still UFC Heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos and former champion Cain Velasquez, Tim Boetsch, Jim Miller…
Junior dos Santos highlights
Junior ‘Cigano’ dos Santos is the current UFC Heavyweight Champion and is ranked as the number one heavyweight fighter in the world by numerous media outlets. He is undefeated in the UFC (MMA 15-1-0) and seven of the nine UFC victories came by way of knockout or TKO. In the two decisions he’s had, dos Santos has made a mess of his opponents, so the word “unanimous” leaves no doubts (against Roy Nelson at UFC 117 and Shane Carwin at UFC 131).
Despite his great accomplishments, dos Santos is rarely mentioned in the mythical “pound-for-pound” discussion.
