Review: 2013-03-30, another impressive performance and really tough fight between Brandon Rios and Mike Alvarado that fight toe-to-toe also in this rematch. Like in their first bout both boxers exchanged shot for shot in a sensational bout, probably not as exciting as the first one but still one of the best boxing fights of 2013, four stars! The undefeated Brandon Rios (31-0-1, 23 KOs) entered as the No.4 light welterweight in the world while Mike Alvarado (33-1-0, 23 KOs) entered as the No.9. In their first fight Rios defeated Alvarado by TKO and it was a war (Fight of the Year 2012 candidate); the rematch Rios vs Alvarado 2 is valid for the interim WBO light welterweight title. They also faced each other a third time on January 24, 2015 (=Alvarado vs Rios 3). Watch the video!
Review: 2013-03-30, good fight with one of the best knockouts of the year: the bout between Gennady Golovkin and Nobuhiro Ishida gets four stars! The undefeated Gennady Golovkin (25-0-0, KO%=88% since he has 22 victories coming by way of knockout) entered as the No.3 middleweight in the world while Nobuhiro Ishida (24-8-2) entered as the No.41. Review: 2013-03-23, tough fight with some vicious elbows and one of the best knockouts of the year: the fight between Bernueng and Enriko Kehl gets four stars! Bernueng Topking Boxing (80-40-15) entered as the No.8 middleweight in the world while the 20-year-old Enriko Kehl (58-7-1) entered as the No.13. Bernueng vs Kehl was held in Germany at “Thailand vs Europe 2013”. Watch the video!
Review: 2013-03-16, we didn’t expected a war between Bradley and Provodnikov, because the American usually is not very aggressive, but this time the bout starts furiously. The performance of both boxers was outstanding: back-and-forth action, tough exchanges, one knockdown and everything you could want from a candidate for Fight of the Year 2013…or rather, there was something we didn’t like: the controversial ending!!! The undefeated Timothy Bradley (29-0-0, 12 KOs) entered as the No.3 welterweight in the world while Ruslan Provodnikov (22-1-0, 15 KOs) entered as the No.46 (after this fight Provodnikov is ranked as the No. 12). Bradley vs Provodnikov is valid for the WBO welterweight title (Bradley’s first defense). Watch the video!
Review: 2013-02-10, after a tactical opening round, as usual in muay thai, Fahpayab Kwaitonggym (red shorts) and Pedsenlek Rajanont start a real war with both fighters throwing bombs: punches, kicks, elbows. It’s unbelievable how thai fighters can eat powerful shots and still keep coming forward. Even though the pace slows down in the second part of the fight, both second and third rounds are astonishing, candidates for round of the year, and this is enough to be our favorite muay thai Fight of the Year so far, five stars! Unfortunately we don’t know the record of both fighters, we only found Fahpayab’s record, 39-12-0, but it is dated August 13, 2012. Fahpayab vs Pedsenlek was held at Channel 7 Stadium (Bangkok, Thailand). Watch the video!
Review: 2013-03-09, speed, power, technique, one knockdown…is it not enough?…It is also a candidate for Knockout of the the Year 2013: the second fight between Salgado and Mendez gets four stars! Juan Carlos Salgado (26-1-1) entered as the No.3 super featherweight in the world while Argenis Mendez (20-2-0) entered as the No.5. In their first fight Salgado defeated Mendez by unanimous decision (September 10, 2011); this second bout is valid for the IBF super featherweight title (Salgado’s fourth defense). Watch the video!
Review: 2013-02-17, after a first boring round, Kritsana Erawan (red trunks) surprises Phetphatam Bermphudin knocking him down with a perfect right hook and trying to close the fight but the heart of a real warrior like Phetphatam never gives up and he starts to throw some vicious elbows… bringing the match to an awesome finish! With a more exciting first round the bout could have got five stars, but anyhow it is one of the best muay thai fights of 2013, four stars! Kritsana Erawan entered the fight with a record of 49-10-1 while Phetphatam Bermphudin had a record of 60-10-0. Kritsana vs Phetphatam was held at Channel 7 Stadium, Bangkok (Thailand). Review: 2013-03-02, explosive first round with one knockdown and a spectacular finish: Giorgio Petrosyan vs Ole Laursen is one of the best K-1 fights of 2013, 4 stars! Giorgio Petrosyan ranked as the No.1 super welterweight in the world, entered the fight with a record of 74-1-2 while Ole Laursen had a record of 34-18-0. Review: 2013-03-03, fast and furious start with tremendous exchanges, two knockdowns and Silva seems to be back at Pride Fc…the first period is simply amazing (could be a candidate for Round of the Year); then the pace slows down but the end of the bout is outstanding: Silva vs Stann is definitely one of the best mma fights of 2013 (UFC Fight & ko of the Night). Wanderlei Silva (34-12-1) entered as the No.25 middleweight in the world while Brian Stann (12-5-0) entered as the No.18. Silva vs Stann is the main event of UFC on Fuel TV 8. Watch the video!
