Review: the first fight between Diego Corrales and Jose Luis Castillo has deservedly won the award for the fight of the year of 2005. Corrales came from the victory against Acelino Freitas (one of the best fights of 2004) in which he won the WBO lightweight title, instead Castillo held the WBC lightweight title, which he had won in 2004 (against Juan Lazcano) and who had successfully defended twice. Diego Corrales vs Jose Luis Castillo 1 was therefore a very important fight (valid for both WBC and WBO lightweight titles) and it was really spectacular, especially the tenth round when both fighters went to the canvas… Watch the video!

You should have seen him fight Steve Quinonez. It was only televised in Mexico and everyone in attendance had Steve winning except judges. What a robbery. Steve won yhe fight unanimously but was given to Castillo. That was a great fight.
