The most important MMA event of the weekend is the BFC Bellator Fighting Championships 39. The main event of the evening is Eddie Alvarez vs Pat Curran, fight valid for the Bellator Lightweight Championship; the favorite is Alvarez, who has only two defeats in his career on 23 fights and has fought in tournament like “DREAM” and “K-1 Dynamite” in Japan. But before the main event, thee will be the semifinals of the Bellator Lightweight Tournament: the first one between Lyman Good and the undefeated Rick Hawn, the second one between Toby Imada and Patricky Freire, protagonist of one of the best MMA fights of 2011 (at Bellator 36 – Freire vs McCullough).

K-1 MUAY THAI NEWS – Explosion Fight Night 3: Batonon vs Nonsai, Bennoui vs Ekapol
Scheduled this Saturday, April 2, an interesting event of k-1 and muay thai entitled “Explosion Fight Night 3“. In the main event of the evening, valid for the WPMF world muay thai title (5×3 – 75Kg), will face Aiello Batonon (France) versus Nonsai Sor Sanyakorn (Thailand). But in the same evening was organized a 4 man muay thai tournament (3×3 – 65Kg) where we could see Charles François vs John Denis, and especially the strong Thai fighter Ekapol Juke vs Hocine Bennoui.

Review: the third fight between Marco Antonio Barrera and Erik Morales was the fight of the year of 2004 (Ring Magazine) and one of our favorites. They had won once each, the first fight won by Morales (fight of the year of 2000) and the second one by Barrera. The “Baby Faced Assassin” Barrera was at his first fight in the super featherweight division and wanted to snatch Morales WBC title. Review: 7th August 2004, Acelino “Popo” Freitas defended his WBO lightweight title (won against Artur Grigorian a few months earlier) versus Diego “Chico” Corrales. Freitas was undefeated in 35 fights and was a very dangerous boxer for his speed, but Corrales was not an easy opponent, since he had suffered just two defeats against boxers like Floyd Mayweather Jr and Joel Casamayor (then Corrales won the rematch with Casamayor). Review: Miguel Angel Cotto vs Kelson Pinto was a battle between undefeated since both boxers had a perfect record: 20-0-0 for Cotto, 21-0-0 for Pinto. Miguel Cotto was the favorite, since he had already won against strong opponents, but Pinto was a tough and not easy boxer for his height (9 cm more than Cotto) and his heavy punches (19 Ko on 21 wins!). Review: Felix Trinidad vs Ricardo Mayorga has been one of the most spectacular fights of 2004. Trinidad was not fighting for over two years and in 2001 suffered its first defeat against Bernard Hopkins, while Mayorga, in 2004, had already fought once defeating the modest Eric Mitchell (first fight of Mayorga in the middleweight division). It is interesting to see the fight between Trinidad and Mayorga also because they have a completely different style of fighting, but in this case the technique will win. Watch the video!
