2015/02/152014/02/24 by ATBF Editorial Board

Review: 2014-02-22, fight not so exciting between Mariana Juarez and Melissa McMorrow: it gets two stars. Mariana Juarez entered this fight with a professional boxing record of 38-7-3 (16 knockouts) and she is ranked as the No.2 super flyweight in the world, last year she fought three times losing her first bout against Riyo Togo (=Juarez vs Togo) but in their rematch the Mexican boxer defeated the Japanese (=Juarez vs Togo 2).
Her opponent, Melissa McMorrow, has an official record of 9-3-3 (1 knockout) and she entered as the No.4 flyweight, she is the WBO flyweight champion but in this fight she moved up in weight class to the super flyweight division. ‘Barbie’ Juarez vs McMorrow is valid for the WBC International female super flyweight title (Juarez’s second defense). Review: 2014-02-22, simply one of the best knockouts of the year: Akifumi Shimoda vs Marvin Sonsona gets four stars. Akifumi Shimoda entered this fight with a professional boxing record of 28-3-2 (12 knockouts) and he is ranked as the No.18 featherweight in the world, he suffered his last defeat in 2011 when he faced Rico Ramos losing also his WBA super bantamweight title (=Ramos vs Shimoda).
His opponent, Marvin Sonsona, has an official record of 17-1-1 (14 KOs=82%) and he entered as the No.52 in the same weight class, he is 23 years old (six years younger than Shimoda) and like the Japanese, he also won a world belt (WBO super flyweight title) in the past years but when he tried to move up in weight class to the super bantamweight division, he lost to Wilfredo Vazquez Jr (on February 27, 2010). Shimoda vs Sonsona is valid for the vacant WBO International featherweight title and it is on the undercard of Zou Shiming vs Yokthong Kokietgym. Watch the video and rate this fight!

2015/02/152014/02/23 by ATBF Editorial Board

Review: 2014-02-22, fantastic performance, strength and determination by both fighters in a very exciting fight with 8 knockdowns: Tommy Coyle vs Daniel Brizuela is one of the best boxing fights of 2014 and it gets four stars (with a better referee and a more spectacular first part of the bout, it could have been a candidate for “Fight of the Year 2014”). Tommy Coyle entered this fight with a boxing record of 17-2-0 (7 knockouts) and he is ranked as the No.50 lightweight in the world, last year he suffered his second defeat when he faced Derry Mathews but in his last bout he won the vacant IBF International lightweight title beating John Simpson.

2014 BOXING fight – Henry Lundy vs Angelo Santana – full fight Video

2015/02/182014/02/22 by ATBF Editorial Board

Review: 2014-02-21, good fight with one knockdown: Henry Lundy vs Angelo Santana gets three stars. Henry Lundy entered this fight with a pro boxing record of 23-3-1 (11 knockouts) and he is ranked as the No.12 light welterweight in the world, in his last three fights he lost twice: the first time against Raymundo Beltran in 2012 losing also the NABF lightweight title (=Beltran vs Lundy) and then when he faced the undefeated Viktor Postol.
His opponent, Angelo Santana, has an official record of 14-1-0 (11 KOs=78%) and he entered as the No.95 lightweight, he suffered his only defeat in his last fight against Bahodir Mamadjonov. Curiously he was born in Cuba from a boxing family in which both his father and uncle had been national champions but some of his family members are defectors to the United States so he couldn’t travel abroad, thus he decided to sail to Florida on a raft made of wood and tire inner tubes on a three day journey in September 2007!! Lundy vs Santana is the main event of the evening. Watch the video and rate this fight!
