Review: 2009-04-04, the fight between Michael Katsidis and Jesus Chavez was one of the best fights of 2009. Katsidis (24-2-0) came from the victory over Angel Hugo Ramirez, but in 2008, he had also suffered his first two defeats, one against Joel Casamayor, and the second one versus Juan Diaz (two of the best fighting of 2008). Therefore, before a new bout for a world title, the Australian had to face Jesus Chavez (44-4-0), an opponent with a lot of experience and with 30 victories by knockout on 44. Katsidis defeated the Mexican Jesus Chavez by TKO, round 8. Watch the video!

Review: 2009-01-24, Antonio Margarito (37-5-0) had won, the previous year, the WBA World welterweight title against Miguel Angel Cotto (one of the best boxing fights of 2008) and he had to defend his title against Shane Mosley (45 -5-0), who was almost 38 years old and had just lost against Cotto in 2007, then, in theory, Margarito would win against “Sugar” Shane. But in front of 20.820 people (largest crowd ever to see an event at the Staples Center of Los Angeles) Shane Mosley dominated a really exciting fight versus Antonio Margarito, forcing the Mexican at his first knockout defeat. (Before the fight, Officials found Margarito with illegal hand-wraps and four days after the fight Margarito and his trainer had their licenses temporarily suspended). Watch the video!
Review: 2009-10-31, Joseph Agbeko (27-1-0) was the IBF champion in the bantamweight category since 2007, and he came from the important victory against Vic Darchinyan, therefore, the defense against Yonnhy Perez did not seem to be so difficult, also because the Colombian had never won a world title. But the fight was very balanced and in the tenth round, thanks to a headbutt of Perez, Agbeko went down and lost also the last two rounds; Agbeko vs Perez was one of the best fights of 2009. Review: 2009-03-21, the fight between Bernard Dunne and Ricardo Cordoba was one of the best boxing fights of 2009. “Maestrito” Cordoba (34-1-0) had won the WBA World super bantamweight title in 2008 (against Luis Alberto Perez) and this was his first defense; instead for Bernard Dunne (27-1-0), after having been European champion, this was the first chance to win a world title. Dunne was losing the match when in the eleventh round he knocked down Cordoba three times and won by TKO. Watch the video!
Review: 2009-03-14, Giovani Segura and Cesar Canchila had already clashed in a match of 2008 that had won our four stars, but this second fights was even more spectacular! Segura (19-1-1) suffered the very first defeat in his career against the Colombian and wanted take revenge. As in the first bout, “El Guerrero Azteca” Segura dominated the first rounds and knocked down Canchila, but this time does not make the mistake of leaving his opponent to recover and wins by TKO in the fourth round, winning also the interim WBA World light flyweight title . Review: 2009-06-27, Marcos Rene Maidana (25-1-0) had already tried to win the WBA World light welterweight title facing, a few months before, Andriy Kotelnik, but winning a title in Germany is almost impossible… However the Argentine boxer did not give up and decided to fight one more time away from his homeland, against the dangerous Victor Ortiz (24-1-1). “El Chino” Maidana was not widely known, since it was his first fight in the United States, but that day he managed to win versus the phenomenon Victor Ortiz (who was just 22 years old). In the fight Maidana vs Ortiz there have been five knockdown and it could have won the title of “fight of the year” if it had not been stopped in the sixth round (due to a cut over Ortiz’s right eye). Review: 2009-02-28, the first fight between Juan Manuel Marquez and Juan Diaz was the “fight of the year” of 2009. Marquez (49-4-1) came from the important victory versus Joel Casamayor and tried to win a world title in the third category of weight since he had won a world title in the featherweight and super featherweight divisions. Diaz (34-1-0) had already won the WBO and WBA lightweight titles in 2008 but he had lost them in the fight versus Nate Campbell who had left them vacant because he tried to climb the welterweight division. The fight had a very high pace and was very balanced until the ninth round when the “aged” Marquez (older than 10 years) knocked Diaz out. Watch the video!

Review: 2008-09-15, going to Japan and winning a world title is never easy, and it is even more difficult when you are only 21 years old! Yutaka Niida (23-1-3) had won the WBA World minimumweight title in 2003 during the rematch against Noel Arambulet and in this fight he was defending his title for the eighth consecutive time! The opponent was the young Roman Gonzalez (born in 1987) that, for the first time, tried to win a world title. The perfect record of “El Chocolatito” Gonzalez spoke out, he had won all the 20 fighting including 18 by knockout; in fact also versus Niida, the Nicaraguan phenomenon knocked his opponent out.
