2 Star RatingReview by AllTheBestFights.com: 2019-03-02, some good single shots between Jon Jones and Anthony Smith but it is not enough to get three stars: it gets two.

The black belt in gaidojutsu and current Ufc light-Hw champion Jon Jones entered this fight with a professional mma record of 23-1-0 (70% finishing rate) and he is ranked as the No.1 light heavyweight in the world. Jones’ only loss was, in reality, a disqualification suffered against Matt Hamill in 2009 due to multiple “12-6 elbows” (strike brought from a high position toward the floor), since then he has collected 14 victories and one no-contest, against Daniel Cormier in 2017 (Jones defeated DC via KO but he tested positive for turinabol so the result was overturned in a NC, Jon Jones vs Daniel Cormier I); after this bout he beat Alexander Gustafsson in their rematch in 2018 (Jon Jones vs Alexander Gustafsson 2).
His opponent, the black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu Anthony Smith, has an official record of 31-13-0 (91% finishing rate) and he entered as the No.5 in the same weight class. He fought four times last year losing to Thiago Santos (Thiago Santos vs Anthony Smith) but then he has beat Rashad Evans, Mauricio Shogun Rua (Mauricio Shogun Rua vs Anthony Smith) and Volkan Oezdemir (Volkan Oezdemir vs Anthony Smith). Jones vs Smith, main event of UFC 235, is valid for the Ufc light heavyweight title (Jones’ first defense). Watch the video and rate this fight!

2 Star RatingReview by AllTheBestFights.com: 2018-12-29, good finish but the rest of the fight was not so exciting: Jon Jones vs Alexander Gustafsson 2 gets two stars.

The black belt in gaidojutsu and former Ufc light-Hw champion Jon Jones entered this fight with a professional mma record of 22-1-0 (68% finishing rate) but he is not ranked as he hasn’t fought since July 29, 2017 when he defeated current #1 Hw and light-Hw Ufc champ Daniel Cormier (but then the result was overturned in a no-contest because Jon ‘Bones’ Jones’ tested positive for turinabol, Daniel Cormier vs Jon Jones 2). Jones’ only loss was, in reality, a disqualification suffered against Matt Hamill in 2009 due to multiple “12-6 elbows” (strike brought from a high position toward the floor), since then he has collected 13 consecutive victories and one no-contest beating ‘DC’ Cormier in 2015 (Jon Jones vs Daniel Cormier I) and Ovince Saint Preux in 2016 (Jon Jones vs Ovince St Preux).
His opponent, Alexander Gustafsson, has an official record of 18-4-0 (78% finishing rate) and he is also not ranked as he hasn’t fought for more than one year, May 2017, when he defeated Glover Teixeira (Alexander Gustafsson vs Glover Teixeira). Before this bout ‘The Mauler’ Gustafsson had also beat Jan Blachowicz (Gustafsson vs Blachowicz) but in 2015 he had lost two consecutive bouts: against Anthony Johnson (Gustafsson vs Johnson) and Daniel Cormier (via split decision, Cormier vs Gustafsson). In their first fight Jones had won over Gustafsson via unanimous decision (September 21, 2013 – Jon Jones vs Alexander Gustafsson I); this second fight, main event of Ufc 232, is valid for the Ufc light heavyweight title. 3 Star RatingReview by AllTheBestFights.com: 2017-07-29, close fight with some nice exchanges: Daniel Cormier vs Jon Jones 2 gets three stars (UFC Performance of the Night).

The former Strikeforce Hw and current Ufc light-Hw champion Daniel Cormier entered this fight with a professional mma record of 19-1-0 (63% finishing rate) and he is ranked as the No.1 light heavyweight in the world. ‘DC’ suffered his only loss against Jon Jones in their first fight in 2015 (=Jones vs Cormier I), since then he has won four bouts beating Anderson Silva (=Cormier vs Silva) and Anthony Johnson in his last two (=Cormier vs Johnson 2).
His opponent, the black belt in gaidojutsu and former Ufc light-Hw champion Jon Jones, has an official record of 22-1-0 (68% finishing rate) but he is not ranked as he hasn’t fought since April 23, 2016 when he defeated Ovince Saint Preux (who had replaced Cormier because ‘DC’ had injured his foot three weeks before the fight, Jones vs St Preux). Jon ‘Bones’ Jones’ only loss was, in reality, a disqualification suffered against Matt Hamill in 2009 due to multiple “12-6 elbows” (strike brought from a high position toward the floor), since then he has collected 13 consecutive victories but after fighting with Cormier he was stripped of the belt and suspended from the UFC in connection with a hit-and-run incident that he was involved in and stripped of his interim title in 2016 because he tested positive for banned substances three days before the rematch with Cormier at Ufc 200. Jon Jones vs Daniel Cormier 2, main event of Ufc 214, is valid for the Ufc light heavyweight title. Watch the video and rate this fight!

2 Star RatingReview by AllTheBestFights.com: 2016-04-23, fight not particularly good between Jon Jones and Ovince Saint Preux: it gets two stars.

The black belt in gaidojutsu and former Ufc light-Hw champion Jon Jones entered this fight with a professional record of 21-1-0 (71% finishing rate) but he is not ranked as he hasn’t fought since January 3, 2015 when he defeated the current #1 Ufc champion Daniel Cormier (=Jones vs Cormier). Fight rated 3 stars by AllTheBestFights.comReview: 2015-01-03, pretty good fight between Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier, it was probably the only fight worth watching of a disappointing Ufc 182: it gets three stars (UFC Fight of the Night). Jon Jones entered this fight with a professional mma record of 20-1-0 (75% finishing rate) and he is ranked as the No.1 light heavyweight in the world; his only loss was, in reality, a disqualification suffered against Matt Hamill due to multiple “12-6 elbows” (strike brought from a high position toward the floor). Jon ‘Bones’ Jones is the Ufc light-Hw champion since March 19, 2011 when he defeated Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua (=Jones vs Rua), since then he has successfully defended the title seven times fighting just once in 2014, against Glover Teixeira (=Jones vs Teixeira).
His opponent, the undefeated 35-year-old Daniel Cormier ‘DC’ (8 years older than Jones), has a perfect record of 15-0-0 (67% finishing rate) and he entered as the No.2 in the same weight class, he fought twice in 2014 beating Patrick Cummins (=Cormier vs Cummins) and Dan Henderson (=Henderson vs Cormier). Jon ‘Bones’ Jones vs Cormier, main event of Ufc 182, is valid for the Ufc light heavyweight title (Jones’ eighth defense); they also faced each other a second time on July 29, 2017 (=Daniel Cormier vs Jon Jones 2). 2013 MMA fight – Jon Jones vs Alexander Gustafsson – full fight Video UFC 165

3_stars_mma_ranking_allthebestfightsReview: 2013-09-21, close fight thanks to a great performance and some good single shots by both Jon Jones and Gustafsson but without ground game it is very difficult to give more than three stars. However the fight won UFC Fight of the Night honors and it is really possible to see a rematch since Jones and Gustafsson proved they are the two best light heavyweight fighters in the world!
