Corrales came from the victory against Acelino Freitas (one of the best fights of 2004) in which he won the WBO lightweight title, instead Castillo held the WBC lightweight title, which he had won in 2004 (against Juan Lazcano) and who had successfully defended twice. Review: 2011-04-02, great start with both fighters went to the canvas, but the fight goes on and it becomes a real war: four stars for the spectacular fight between Hernan “Tyson” Marquez and Luis “El Nica” Concepcion; unfortunately the pace slows down a little bit between the sixth and ninth round, if not it could be a candidate for Fight of the Year 2011. Hernan Marquez entered the fight with a record of 29-2-0 while Luis Concepcion had a record of 22-1-0. Marquez vs Concepcion is valid for the WBA World flyweight title. Watch the video!
The most important MMA event of the weekend is the BFC Bellator Fighting Championships 39. The main event of the evening is Eddie Alvarez vs Pat Curran, fight valid for the Bellator Lightweight Championship; the favorite is Alvarez, who has only two defeats in his career on 23 fights and has fought in tournament like “DREAM” and “K-1 Dynamite” in Japan. But before the main event, thee will be the semifinals of the Bellator Lightweight Tournament: the first one between Lyman Good and the undefeated Rick Hawn, the second one between Toby Imada and Patricky Freire, protagonist of one of the best MMA fights of 2011 (at Bellator 36 – Freire vs McCullough).
Scheduled this Saturday, April 2, an interesting event of k-1 and muay thai entitled “Explosion Fight Night 3“. In the main event of the evening, valid for the WPMF world muay thai title (5×3 – 75Kg), will face Aiello Batonon (France) versus Nonsai Sor Sanyakorn (Thailand). But in the same evening was organized a 4 man muay thai tournament (3×3 – 65Kg) where we could see Charles François vs John Denis, and especially the strong Thai fighter Ekapol Juke vs Hocine Bennoui.

Review: Vic Darchinyan, although he belonged to the flyweight division (now bantamweight), is a spectacular boxer since he always seeks the Ko, as well as the fight with Irene Pacheco. Both boxers were undefeated in 2004 and for Darchinyan this was also the first fight in the U.S.A., but Pacheco was the man to beat, since he was the holder of the IBF flyweight title by more than 5 years. Review: the first aim of Vitali Klitschko in the fight versus Corrie Sanders was not to win the vacant WBC heavyweight title, but to avenge his brother, since in 2003 Wladimir lost by Ko against Sanders. Both boxers had a similar record: 33-2-0 for Klitschko, 39-2-0 for Sanders, but the South African boxer had fought with lower level opponents… Watch the video!
Review: the third fight between Marco Antonio Barrera and Erik Morales was the fight of the year of 2004 (Ring Magazine) and one of our favorites. They had won once each, the first fight won by Morales (fight of the year of 2000) and the second one by Barrera. The “Baby Faced Assassin” Barrera was at his first fight in the super featherweight division and wanted to snatch Morales WBC title. Review: Mike Tyson was one of the most spectacular boxer ever, and his fighting were always exciting, even when he faced Danny Williams… Tyson was 38 years old, he didn’t fight for almost a year and a half and probably underestimated Williams, boxer who had never fought for a world title but was younger than seven years, was an advantage for height, weight and reach.
