Review: 2002-08-17, Joan Guzman vs Fabio Daniel Oliva was one of the best boxing fights of 2002. Both boxers were undefeated and had a similar record, Guzman 17-0-0, while 18-0-0 for Oliva, but the former had already fought for international titles and outside his home country, instead Oliva had never fought outside Argentina, this match was his first time. Joan Guzman vs Fabio Daniel Oliva was valid for the vacant WBO super bantamweight title and it was an exciting fight with a quick knockout in the third round. Watch the video!
Review: 2002-06-08, Lennox Lewis vs Mike Tyson was probably the most important fight in the heavyweight division of the new millennium. Lennox Lewis was the champion (WBC, IBF and IBO) and he had lost twice in his career (with Oliver McCall and Hasim Rahman) but he always managed to take his revenge. Even Mike Tyson had already lost, once against Buster Douglas and twice with Evander Holyfield, Tyson’s career was already in decline, in fact he didn’t fight for a world title for five years. Review: 2011-03-05, Shinsuke Yamanaka vs Ryosuke Iwasa was a very nice fight as often happens in Japan, where the fighters never give up: four stars for one of the best boxing fights of 2011. Both undefeated, Shinsuke Yamanaka was the champion of the Japanese bantamweight title and entered the fight with a record of 13-0-2, while his opponent Ryosuke Iwasa, younger than seven years, had a record of 8-0-0. Review: 2011-03-05, exciting and tough fight between Saul Alvarez and Matthew Hatton with an amazing seventh round candidate for “round of the year”: definitely one of the best boxing fights of 2011. The undefeated Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (20 years old) entered the fight with a record of 35-0-1 while Matthew Hatton had a record of 41-4-2. Saul Alvarez vs Hatton is valid for the vacant WBC light middleweight title. Watch the video!
Review: also with fighters not very popular, in Thailand is not so hard to find good muay thai athletes and spectacular fights. This is the case of the fight between Thanonchai Tor Sangtiennoi (red shorts) and Payaknoi Romsithong, five intensive round, good pace and good technique throughout the fight, it won’t be the muay thai fight of the year but it is one of the best of 2011. The best MMA event of the week should be “Strikeforce Feijao vs Henderson” scheduled for Saturday, March 5. The main fight will be Dan “Hendo” Henderson vs Rafael “Feijão” Cavalcante and will be valid for the Strikeforce light heavyweight championship. This fight night should be very exciting also for the presence of Melvin Manhoef, who will face Tim Kennedy, and another world title between Marloes Coenen and Liz Carmouche that will fight for the Strikeforce womens welterweight championship. This Strikeforce event will be broadcast live on Showtime (10 pm ET / PT, delayed on the West Coast).

Review: 2011-02-26, exciting fight with three knockdowns between Brandon Rios and Miguel Acosta; at the moment it is the most beautiful boxing fight of 2011 and could be a candidate for Fight of the Year 2011. Miguel Acosta (28-3-2) was the holder of the WBA World lightweight title, won in 2009 against Urbano Antillon and then defended last year versus Paulus Moses (both fighting won by ko); while the undefeated Brandon Rios (26-0-1) seven years younger than Acosta, it was the first chance to became world champion. Review: 2011-02-19, Montiel seems confused while Donaire begins immediately with quick and heavy punches…the bout was spectacular, perhaps too fast, with one of the best knockouts of the year: four stars. Review: 2002-11-23, after the first fight between Arturo Gatti and Micky Ward, it was immediately organized a second fight between the “Irish” and the “Thunder”, both to give the opportunity for revenge to Gatti and because anyone would want to see again a spectacular fight as the first one. Thus, six months later, here we are are with Arturo Gatti vs Micky Ward 2, which didn’t disappoint the expectations of the fans and was certainly another very exciting fight; this time Gatti managed to overturn the result… Watch the video!
